Safety extends outside the house, follow these tips while you are out the house:
1) If you are travelling outside your normal routine, or in an unknown area, advise your friends and family and if possible, share your live location with them.
2) If you have a tracker in your car, test that it is working every six months.
3) Keep emergency lighting, a bottle of water and non-perishable food items, and a jacket/ blanket in your car in case of emergency.
4) Keep a basic first aid kit in your car.

5) If feasible, keep a basic phone in your car in case yours is stolen in a smash and grab (or similar) and you need a way of making contact with your loved ones.
6) Keep a fully charged power bank / booster kit in your car, as well as jumper cables.
7) Make sure the phone numbers of loved ones are easy to access in case of emergency (label as ICE, mention their relation or similar in case an officer or medic needs to make contact).
8) Make sure your loved ones know your basic information, such as blood type, allergies, medical aid information.
9) Do not listen to music so loudly in your car that you cannot hear your surroundings.
